Happening's

Well I'm back. I've decided to continue writing. I will not concern myself with the lack of interest I've seemed to generate with my blog. All kidding aside, there's plenty of news. We have entertainment on Thursday's. The sweet sound of Reggie Braxton. Reggie will be playing the Cigar Box Thursday's from 7:00 to 9:00 come out and enjoy. Nothing like good friends, good jazz and a relaxing atmosphere to unwind and get ready for the weekend.
On Saturday August 17th we will be attending Orchard Lake St Mary's Jazz On The Lake. We will be participating and selling cigars for the second year. They have great musicians, great food it's truly a first class event in which were proud to have a small part. Anyone interested see Tim Daly or myself for tickets to the event.
Milford Memories was a resounding success, I personally had a great time. The highlight..... watching last years pepper eating champion lose his peppers. Milford really comes off in a good light with this festival, and they do get it right when it comes to running this event.
I look forward to your comments, although this post was rather dull I promise to be more provocative in future posts.

Ramblings

Thought that I would continue my blog, even thought I have not had a comment either on this site or even verbally since I began writing. Writing to me is personal so I have decided to continue tonight with the knowledge that I'm not writing to an audience.
The Cigar Box has been doing a booming Summer business, I wish it would continue in the Winter. I want to explore options on how to increase business in the Winter. Possibly different products or expanding on cigar related products. I find cigars to be much more in demand in the Summer. Any ideas are welcome.
We had a nice crowd for the All-Star game on Tuesday evening. I enjoy hosting, we have a great clientel. I always envisioned a more consistant crowd at the shop. I set it up as a place for social gatherings. I believe we have accomplished the desired setting just not a consistant crowd. I guess thats attributted to being in a small town. The rent however is not indicative of a small town. Please tell the landlord.

Happy Fathers Day

To the many fathers that I see on a daily basis at The Cigar Box have a relaxing day and appreciate your accomplishments. The most important accomplishment is that you raised children to an age old enough to appreciate what you have done for them. This is your day. Happy Fathers Day.

Spurs a Dynasty?

Cris, Leonard, Gabriel, and I watched game 4 at the shop Thursday Night. The Cavaliers didn't give them any trouble. They swept fairly easily. The broadcasters hailed San Antonio as a dynasty. Just looking at the the number of championships this team has produced one would have an argument. Please........

This team drips with mediocrity, the basketball I've seen the last few years could hardly compare to the game played in the 80's and 90's. The teams were far superior.
The Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, and Bulls of those decades would have dominated this San Antonio Team. With atheletes in general getting bigger stronger and faster, we must wonder what is going on with the quality of athelete in the NBA Today. The quality of play seems to have deteriorated.

Get the word out

We have some great ideas for the future of the Cigar Box. We would like input from the members on the direction you would like to see us going. The back room is for the members and I would like to see more input, possibly set up a council (Pres., VP, Treasurer) to organize events. There could be trips to a ballgame, trips to Cigar Factories etc. guest speakers would be happy to talk to a affluent group of 30 people. With the size of our membership we could create our own economies. With the power of 30 members you would be suprised at what can be created with a little effort. Lets put some ideas together and move forward.

Verlander's No-No

Last night we got to witness a no hitter. Verlander was unbelievable. Watched the game at the Cigar Box with Chris, & Tim. Verlander was as sharp and as dominant as a pitcher can be, his 100 mph fastball, change-up, and curve ball that the bottom literally dropped out were to much for Brewer hitters. This was the first of a few no-no's before he will be through, he's one of those guys that it wasn't a fluke. Obviously, luck is involved in any no hitter but Verlander has the stuff that makes luck happen.

Customers

I want to take a minute to thank my customers, many of whom have become my friends. I bought The Cigar Box in September of 2005, I had not a clue on how to run a shop. With the help of Arnie, and my wife we have made a success of it.
Our customers have supported us in every sense of the word, and they have continued to support us through tough economic times. We have created a club atmosphere, and in fact it has become the center of our social life.
Our customers/friends have been great, I couldn't thank them enough.

Feedback Please!!!

I would appreciate any feedback. I really like this forum to share information, I just don't quite understand how it all ties together. For instance who is reading this and how did they get here to read it. How can I target my audience of readers to people in Michigan who are interested in cigars or sports handicapping. And lastly how does gmail differ from email. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

The First Blog Ever

I feel proud of myself today. Today I created a blog and this my friends is my 1st post ever. My name is Jim, I go by Jimmy Cigars. Cigars are not only a hobby of mine, it is also my business. I am a Tobacconist. As a Tobacconist ( I just learned how to spell it) you would think I had some kind of formal training. The truth is I applied for a tobacco license and was granted it hence I became a Tobacconist. I bought a cigar store 2 years ago in my home town. I didn't know a heck of a lot about cigars when I bought the place, I did know I liked smoking them. I also enjoy the comraderie that comes with hanging out with the boys, watching sports, and enjoying a favorite libation. I would be interested in setting up a Cigar Club that meets regularly. My shop is in Milford MI and if there is any interest please feel free to contact me at Jimsbook@hotmail.com.

Since this is my absolute 1st post on my very own blog I think I will stop and just see where this message ends up. Thanks for reading, and please feel free to contact me with regards to a Cigar Club or if you would like to check out my store. I have a very comfortable lounge with 2 50" plasmas and a 42" LCD a nice bar and lots of good people.

Regards,
Jim
